Governance Categories

The BC ELN governance model is designed for equitable representation by all partner libraries and effective communication with all key stakeholders.

BC ELN governance categories (Associate Members, Urban Colleges, Rural Colleges, Teaching Universities and Technical Institutions, Small Universities, Large Universities) are also known as constituency groups.

Steering Committee Membership

  • 5 Partner Library Director representatives for full member categories* (elected by the Directors of each library group):
    • Associate Members
      (Acsenda School of Management, Alexander College, Columbia Bible College, Columbia College, Coquitlam College, University Canada West, Vancouver Premier College)
    • Urban Colleges
      (Camosun College, Douglas College, Justice Institute of BC, Langara College, Okanagan College, Vancouver Community College)
    • Rural Colleges
      (Coast Mountain College, College of New Caledonia, College of the Rockies, Nicola Valley Institute of Technology, North Island College, Northern Lights College, Selkirk College)
    • Teaching Universities and Technical Institutions
      (British Columbia Institute of Technology, Capilano University, Kwantlen Polytechnic University, Vancouver Island University, University of the Fraser Valley, Yukon University)
    • Small Universities
      (Emily Carr University of Art + Design, Royal Roads University, Thompson Rivers University, Trinity Western University, University of Northern BC)
  • 3 University Library Directors, one from each of the following institutions:
    • Simon Fraser University
    • University of British Columbia
    • University of Victoria

Non-voting members include:

  • 1 representative from SFU as the host institution (i.e. Host Site Officer)
  • Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills representative(s)
  • BC ELN Executive Director

*As per 2010 Steering Committee Terms of Reference review, legacy institutions in full member categories include Trinity Western University and Yukon University (previously Yukon College).
