Renewal pricing is now available for Canadian Business & Current Affairs (CBCA). There are significant changes to the product offering at this renewal due to ProQuest's ongoing product simplification process. At the time of renewal, only CBCA Complete will be offered. Other smaller CBCA products (Reference & Current Events, Business, and Education Collections) will be discontinued.
Many BC ELN customers subscribe to CBCA Complete already; however, there are a number that subscribe to one or two of the smaller subset collections that are being discontinued. Since all subset content is available in CBCA Complete, BC ELN has negotiated significant reductions to last year's CBCA Complete pricing model for all but the highest tiers, as well as 4-year transitional pricing for subscribers to the smaller collections in order to provide Partner Libraries an option for for accessing content to which they currently have access, and much more, via Complete.
Some subscribers will see decreases in their pricing (for some, up to $3,000); other subscribers who only had minimal spend will see substantial proposed increases to make the jump to Complete. For those institutions who are interested and able to make the leap to Complete, the following pricing represents excellent consortial value for substantially more content. That being said, we are aware that these decisions are difficult and not made solely based on value.
Full details are included in the pricing section below.
About product simiplification, from the vendor: "ProQuest is undergoing a product simplification process across our aggregated product portfolio. This impacts CBCA as it moves from disparate subsets into one complete collection. The intent is to improve the research experience and make it simple to map ProQuest products to faculty teaching, curriculum and research interests. It’s parallel aim is also to make them easier to manage and gain better value from larger content sets that can generate higher usage and greater return on investment."
