This is a new BC ELN offering for ProQuest Academic Video Online (AVON), a comprehensive video subscription collection. It delivers 68,000 titles spanning the widest range of subject areas including anthropology, business, counseling, film, health, history, music, and more. More than 14,000 titles are exclusive to Alexander Street.
Highlights from the vendor include:
- Almost 4,000 videos added annually.
- 61% of titles are 2014 and newer.
- Includes a Media Hosting Service which is free for Academic Video Online customers, allows subscribers to publish and share multimedia (video, PDF, audio) across your institution, digitize lecture-capture, performances, faculty experiments, and more.
- Purchase perpetual access titles in addition to the subscription - called “Build by Choice.” At the end of each full calendar year (in this case, due to April 1 start, it would be December of 2021) participating members would get a title list with usage, and could then select the videos they would like to own. The price of a video is generally $499, so a $5,000 subscription would select 10 videos, as an example. This is available for every year an institution subscribes.
- Public Performance Rights are included at no charge, provided the institution does not charge an admission fee or ask for a donation.
