Tiers are reviewed annually in March. The effective date of the tiers below is April 1, 2020 - March 31, 2021.
Tier 1: Colleges with predominantly two-year programs
Tier 1A: Two-year Colleges, up to 2,000 FTE
Tier 1B: Two-year Colleges, 2,001 to 4,000 FTE
Tier 1C: Two-year Colleges, 4,001+ FTE
Tiers 2-5: Universities and institutes with four-year programs
Tier 2: Teaching Universities and Technical Institutions
Tier 3A: Small universities, up to 1,000 FTE
Tier 3B: Small universities, 1,001 to 5,000 FTE
Tier 3C: Small universities, 5,001 to 15,000 FTE
Tier 4: Medium universities, 15,001 to 30,000 FTE
Tier 5: Large universities, 30,000+ FTE
