Arca participating libraries are invited to join WestVault, COPPUL's private LOCKSS network.

WestVault deposits are automated in Arca by the Islandora WestVault module. Admins can check a box on a collection, newspaper, compound or individual object, and the module takes care of everything else. Manual deposits via OwnCloud are also possible.

The initial term for membership ends April 30, 2021. After this it becomes an annual subscription.



Updates: 

NOTE: Individual objects selected for preservation cannot exceed 2 GB. Islandora Westvault checks for these automatically.

Description: 

WestVault enables participants, using OwnCloud, to ingest digital content into a distributed digital preservation storage network, ensuring the longevity, integrity, and accessibility of critical digital content over the long-term. WestVault employs the award-winning LOCKSS software to provide a high-redundancy, independently-administered peer storage network spread across all 4 Western provinces. WestVault monitors content health and automatically repairs damage and recovers from data loss events.

Members of Arca have access to the Islandora WestVault module, which automates the deposit of repository objects into WestVault.

This resource is available to Arca participating libraries through our reciprocal agreement with COPPUL. BC ELN partner libraries that are COPPUL members and do not participate in Arca should join via COPPUL.
