The Sociology Collection combines abstracting and indexing coverage from Sociological Abstracts, Social Services Abstracts and ASSIA with full text from hundreds of journals, as well as dissertations, video, and other content, ensuring comprehensive coverage to fully support the study of sociology and social work.

Users need to find relevant and reliable sources for the information they require without being overwhelmed by material in unrelated disciplines. This subject collection makes serious sociology research easy to do. For librarians, the Sociology Collection is a cost-effective way to provide the leading indexes required for serious research in sociology and social work together with high quality full-text content from important publishers such as Palgrave Macmillan, Springer Science + Business Media, Cambridge University Press, and  Emerald Group Publishing. It is a thorough yet straightforward resource to manage and promote to sociology students and faculty.
It includes the following databases:

  •  Sociology Database, which provides full-text journals, dissertations, and other content covering sociology, social work, and related fields.
  •  Applied Social Sciences Index & Abstracts (ASSIA), which is an index database covering the applied social sciences, spanning the literature of health, social services, psychology, sociology, economics, politics, race relations, and education.
  •  Sociological Abstracts, which indexes the international literature of sociology and related disciplines in the social and behavioral sciences. It includes the companion file Social Services Abstracts which provides bibliographic coverage of current research focused on social work, human services, and related areas.
