Response Deadline:
August 13, 2021

Subscription Term

Begins:

July 1, 2021

Ends:

June 30, 2022

Renewal pricing is now available for the OUP Biographies. These databases are made available to BC ELN partner libraries through a national site licence negotiated on behalf of Consortia Canada by the Ontario Council of University Libraries. A 1% increase was negotiated for this renewal.

Pricing was very late to come out due to ongoing negotiations. The licensing term will remain July 1 - June 30. Any new subscriber to a product will be prorated for a 11 month period to bring them in line with the license.

Updates:

OUP has decided to limit the user levels per database FOR NEW SUBSCRIBERS ONLY to 1, 3, and Unlimited. Pricing below reflects this change. This will not affect renewing subscribers user levels. If a new subscriber would like a different access level than noted below, please contact BC ELN.

American National Biography

Featuring thousands of illustrations, and tens of thousands of hyperlinked cross-references and links to other (select) websites, the American National Biography is a powerful research tool for all levels of study.

Published in 24 volumes in 1999 and then online in 2000, the ANB won instant acclaim as the new authority in American biographies. Winner of the American Library Association's Dartmouth Medal as the best reference work of the year, the ANB now serves readers in thousands of school, public, and academic libraries around the world.

Key features of the ANB include:

  • A responsive design enabling seamless access across different formats
  • Searching using a query builder, helping you get straight to the content you need
  • Social media integration, so you can share content across channels
  • Searching across multimedia, including images and podcasts where available, making it easier to find different types of content

Dictionary of National Biography

Explore the lives of 60,000 people worldwide in this illustrated online collection of academic biographies. This authoritative resource covers individuals who have shaped all aspects of British history, from the Romans to the present day, written by specialist authors and edited by academics at Oxford University. The online edition offers versatile, comprehensive search options across this regularly updated resource, including access to themed articles, reference lists, special features, learning resources, free biography podcasts, and thousands of internal and external links to related articles and other resources, such as Who Was Who and the National Portrait Gallery.
