Renewal pricing is now available for eHRAF (the Electronic Human Relations Area Files). There are two separate collections: eHRAF Archaeology and eHRAF World Cultures. These databases are made available to BC ELN partner libraries through a national site license negotiated on behalf of Consortia Canada by COPPUL. All BC COPPUL members are asked to send their responses to BC ELN.

Pricing has remained stable. There is no increase over last year's pricing.

Human Relations Area Files, Inc. (HRAF) is an internationally recognized organization in the field of cultural anthropology. Founded in 1949 at Yale University, HRAF is a not-for-profit membership consortium of universities, colleges, and research institutions. Its mission is to provide information that facilitates the cross-cultural study of human behavior, society and culture.

In the 1930s, behavioral scientists at Yale's Institute of Human Relations started to develop a classification of cultural information by subject, providing quick access to research materials. HRAF grew out of these efforts. Today, HRAF produces two major full-text databases (eHRAF Archaeology and eHRAF World Cultures) and other resources for teaching and research. Availability of HRAF collections is limited to members of the HRAF consortium.

HRAF is a financially independent research agency of Yale University and is located in New Haven, Connecticut.

eHRAF World Cultures and eHRAF Archaeology are award-winning online databases that contain information on present and past aspects of cultural and social life. The membership-based, annually growing eHRAF databases are organized by cultures, ethnic groups, indigenous people, and/or archaeological traditions. eHRAF is unique in having subject indexing at the page and paragraph level. These subject codes allow for detailed and precise searching for concepts not easily found with keywords.
