The Ministry of Advanced Education has confirmed BC ELN's annual budget allocation of $485,417 for 2017/18. The Ministry thanks BC ELN for its "continued commitment to post-secondary education, providing excellent opportunities for students and supporting British Columbia's economy." Appreciation goes to the Ministry and BC ELN partner libraries for all the support - funding, staff time, input, and feedback. We look forward to yet another productive year!

The OutLook OnLine Actions & Achievements 2016 report is now available!

The report highlights the benefits realised from a centralised approach to supporting OutLook OnLine through the OLOL Administrative Centre. It includes a focus on value, key achievements, and future activities. It also includes a visual representation of how OLOL facilitates a patron's journey from having an item in-mind to in-hand.

The BC ELN Innovation & Success Report 2016 is now available!

Innovation & Success 2016 highlights BC ELN's support of post-secondary learners, educators, and researchers throughout the province. This year's report features profiles of students, faculty, and library staff who benefit from BC ELN services. It also includes a value spotlight, service achievements, a financial overview, and activities on the horizon.

In October 2016, Library and Archives Canada hosted the National Heritage Digitization Strategy (NHDS) Foundational Assembly – it was such an inspiring gathering with tremendous experience, expertise, and goodwill. Arising from this assembly, the NHDS Steering Committee has commenced work on further refining a draft action plan and planning for broader community engagement and involvement in the confirmation of the plan and its implementation.

The BC Provincial Digital Library (PDL) Initiative Communique #2, January 2017 is now available from the PDL website.

The Communique includes an update on infrastructure, an interview with Loren Fantin from OurDigitalWorld, and more!

BC ELN and the Arca digital repository were featured in the ASDT (Administrative Service Delivery Transformation) 2015/16 Progress Report.

BC ELN and the Council of Prairie and Pacific University Libraries (COPPUL) are pleased to announce a partnership to offer reciprocal repository and preservation services to their members.

Our common mandate to increase capacity for member libraries by leveraging collective resources and expertise is beautifully realised in this BC ELN-COPPUL partnership, which will put supported repository and preservation infrastructure within reach for all our libraries.

The BC Library Conference has sent out a Call for Proposals and Exhibitor and Sponsorship Registration is now open. The 2017 BC Library Conference will be held from April 19 to 21 at Pinnacle Hotel Harbourfront, 1133 West Hastings Street, Vancouver.

Registration is now open for Code4Lib BC Unconference 2016. Code4Lib BC 2016 will be held at the UBC Irving K. Barber Learning Centre, Dodson Room on December 1 & 2, 2016.

On October 3, 2016, Library and Archives Canada (LAC) released a call letter for the 2017-2018 funding cycle for the Documentary Heritage Communities Program (DHCP):

We hope many of you had a relaxing summer and are now back into the swing of everything  that autumn brings. 

ORCID will be hosting a free full-day workshop in Vancouver on Friday, October 7. 

The theme of the meeting is "ORCID in the community", with talks on ORCID APIs, research information interoperability, ORCID at scale and platform integrations. There will be ample opportunity for networking and Q&A.  We look forward to seeing you in Vancouver!

e-HLbc's annual report, the 2015 Year in Review, was released today and is now available on the e-HLbc website. The report highlights several of e-HLbc's main achievements and activities over the past year, notably the consortium's successful acquisition of Elsevier's Clinical Skills and its expansion to 47 members.
