BC ELN-BC Data Service Partnership Launch

May 1, 2024

We are very pleased to share that BC ELN and BC Data Service have teamed up to grant BC ELN partner libraries access to four BC Assessment datasets unavailable on the open web, at no charge. To participate, partner libraries must have a librarian able to mediate access for users and sign a license between BC Data Service and their institution.

Learn about this new partnership and the process for participation on our BC ELN-BC Data Service Partnership webpage.

Background

BC ELN has a proven track record of setting up collaborative, low-barrier services that address equity in the sector. In 2021, BC Data Service approached BC ELN to assist with providing partner libraries no-charge access to BC Assessment data. A small number of institutions were invited to participate in a pilot to assess interest level and develop appropriate processes. The pilot was a success, and the initiative has now been opened to all interested libraries.

BC ELN’s role in this partnership is to facilitate access to the data sets, while BC Data Service manages and assists with the data.
